His commitment to direct action became especially evident when he learned of the life-threatening situation facing American basketball player Jarred Shaw, who was facing the possibility of the death penalty in Indonesia in connection with a cannabis-related case. Without hesitation, Volodarsky mobilized his resources and network to support humanitarian advocacy efforts aimed at bringing attention to Shaw’s situation and supporting efforts toward a just outcome by all means necessary.
