Harold Grigsby iii, Esq.
Lead Counsel
The Forgotten Prisoner,
J.D., Harvard Law School | Former Litigation Associate, Kirkland & Ellis LLP
Harold Grigsby serves as Lead Counsel, directing the frontline legal strategy for impact litigation, sentence-modification cases, and post-conviction relief for individuals unjustly imprisoned.
Harold earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he focused on public-interest law, criminal-justice reform, and community-based advocacy. While at Harvard, he worked with legal clinics representing underserved individuals in criminal defense, housing justice, and civil-rights matters—building his foundation as a people-centered advocate.
Following graduation, Harold practiced as a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, one of the world’s largest and most elite international law firms. There, he gained advanced experience in:
-
Complex litigation
-
High-stakes investigations
-
Strategic legal advocacy
He later made the principled decision to dedicate his career fully to impact-driven justice work, aligning his professional life with his lived experience and moral convictions.
Harold’s personal journey gives him rare insight into how over-policing, systemic inequality, and mass incarceration shape lives and families. That perspective fuels his relentless advocacy for those who have been forgotten, discarded, or left behind by the justice system.
As Lead Counsel, Harold oversees:
-
Sentence-modification petitions
-
Post-conviction relief litigation
-
Individual freedom-restoration cases
-
Trial-level advocacy and direct legal action
His work ensures that The Forgotten Prisoner is not only a movement—but a force for real legal outcomes.
