"Storytelling as direct intervention."
Jason Flom's career in criminal justice reform began in 1993, when he read about Steven Lennon, who was serving 15 years to life for a drug offense. Flom helped secure Lennon a new hearing and, ultimately, his freedom. Today he is the creator and host of the Wrongful Conviction podcast, founder of Lava for Good, and a founding board member of the Innocence Project.

About Jason
Since launching Wrongful Conviction in 2016, Flom has produced more than 525 interviews with exonerees and wrongfully convicted individuals. The platform has generated over 72 million downloads, and his work has directly contributed to dozens of stays of execution, paroles, and overturned convictions.
In 2019, his coverage of Rodney Reed became part of a national campaign that drew nearly 3 million petition signatures and public figures including Kim Kardashian and Dr. Phil, and ultimately helped stay Reed's execution. His creative advocacy has also been credited with influencing legislative reforms in Washington, Illinois, and Indiana.
Through Lava for Good, named ADWEEK's 2024 Podcast Network of the Year, Flom is executive producer of Bone Valley, hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gilbert King and named by Entertainment Weekly "one of the very best of its kind," and of series including Earwitness.
Before justice reform, Flom was a leading figure in the music industry, serving as Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records, Virgin Records, and Capitol Music Group and discovering artists including Katy Perry, Lorde, Tori Amos, Greta Van Fleet, and Stone Temple Pilots.
His honors include the ACLU's Torch of Liberty Award (1999), a Clio Music Impact Award (2022), and the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards Lifetime Achievement Award (2023).
Why He Serves
Flom and Founder Donte West worked together on the release of former Missouri prisoner Patty Prewitt before Flom joined the Board of The Forgotten Prisoner.
