The charges are allegations. Police reportedly seized about 90,000 grams of THC products.

Jerry McCoy, owner of the Hemp 1848 retail chain, is charged with 13 counts of trafficking illegal THC, Ganjapreneur reported on August 31, 2026, citing GazetteXtra. Raids at six of 16 locations in Rock and Green Counties reportedly found about 90,000 grams of THC products.

Prosecutors allege the products tested at 60 to 80 percent delta-9 THC, far above the 0.3 percent hemp limit, and were sold in packaging that mimicked legal hemp products. The reported maximum exposure is more than 130 years; that is not a sentence imposed. His attorney says he contests the allegations, and bond was set at $50,000.

Why it matters: This is a large commercial case, not personal use, and nobody has been convicted. It shows how steeply Wisconsin law can rise as quantities and commercial conduct grow.
