A Malaysian man, 36, and a Malaysian woman, 35, were stopped on a Malaysia-registered motorcycle while trying to enter Singapore on September 15, 2026, The Star of Malaysia reported.

Enhanced checks found about 10.164 kilograms of cannabis, in bundles under the seat and in a haversack on the handlebar. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority acted on information from its targeting center and handed the case to the Central Narcotics Bureau. Malaysia's national news agency Bernama places the stop at Tuas Checkpoint and values the drugs at over S$203,000.

The two are not named, investigations are ongoing and no one has been convicted. The Star notes that trafficking more than 500 grams of cannabis can carry the death penalty on conviction in Singapore.

Why it matters: Singapore's border checkpoints use intelligence-led checks, and drug trafficking is treated as one of the most serious offences there.
