By Donte West · Oct 15, 2026

Gendarmes from the Keur Massar research brigade seized more than 300 kg of cannabis (called "chanvre indien" in the report) at Thiaroye-sur-mer, in the Dakar suburbs, on the night of 22 July 2026, according to the Agence de Presse Sénégalaise. A further 500 g was found on the first suspect.

Two Senegalese suspects were arrested and held for criminal association and international drug trafficking. The second suspect was arrested after the first named him, and was caught using the drug. Gendarmes said the cannabis probably came from The Gambia, and the investigation was ongoing. The report does not name the suspects.

Why it matters: This is a trafficking-scale case with charges that include criminal association. The report gives no court outcome.
