He pleaded guilty to all nine counts. Charges against a woman arrested with him were withdrawn.

By Donte West · Oct 15, 2026

On 6 July 2026 police and customs officers at Vieux Fort Port found cannabis and cannabis resin hidden in a package inside buckets, according to The Voice. Two people were arrested and jointly charged with importation, possession with intent to supply and simple possession.

The man appeared at the Second District Court on 9 July and pleaded guilty to all nine counts. He was fined EC$200,000 payable by 31 December 2026, with six years in prison if unpaid. The report names him as Tony Paul, of Soufriere. Prosecutors withdrew all charges against the woman and she was discharged. The operation involved the police Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit working with Customs and Excise.

Why it matters: The sentence is a fine, but non-payment by the deadline carries a six-year prison term. The woman's charges were dropped.
