Monaco: Five Months Suspended and a €1,000 Fine for About 7 Grams of Cannabis Resin and 4 Grams of Cocaine

The court heard the defendant had relapsed during family stress and is in treatment.

A 57-year-old man living in Monaco appeared before the criminal court on 14 October 2025, according to Monaco Tribune. Police searched his home on 3 October 2024 and found about 7 grams of cannabis resin and about 4 grams of cocaine. He had earlier convictions for drug use and possession.

The defence said he had stopped using for a long period, relapsed under family stress and is in treatment. The prosecutor asked for a €1,000 fine and a treatment order. The court instead gave five months in prison, suspended, plus the €1,000 fine, and confiscated the drugs.

Why it matters: Seven grams of resin led to a criminal trial a year after the search and a prison sentence, even though suspended. A prior record turns small amounts into custodial terms.
