Two Brothers Arrested in Terengganu After About 22 kg of Suspected Ganja Seized

Police say the pair stored drugs for a syndicate; their remand was extended by seven days.

Police raided a house in Kampung Duyong Besar, Kuala Terengganu, on June 14, 2026 and seized about 22 kilograms of suspected ganja buds, valued at RM1.76 million.

Two brothers, aged 39 and 50, were arrested. The report cites Section 39B of Malaysia's Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Their remand, which began on June 15, was extended by seven days.

Police say the two were storekeepers for a syndicate that has been active since March 2026, with supply believed to arrive by sea from an international group. They say the drugs were meant for overseas markets and for processing into a liquid for e-cigarettes. Vehicles, motorcycles and cash worth about RM149,000 were also seized.

The brothers are not named. No conviction has been reported, and this is a trafficking-scale case, not personal use.

Why it matters: Malaysian police build cases against storage and supply roles, not only the people at the top of a network.
