A woman was stopped at the Karloken checkpoint in Maryland County on about 9 September 2026 after a tip-off to the drug agency, according to FrontPage Africa. The report names her as Mamie Williams, a Liberian national originally from River Gee County. The marijuana was four plates valued at about US$400.

She was taken to Harper and held by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency while investigated. At the time of the article she had not yet been charged; the agency said it planned to charge her and send the case to court after the investigation.

Why it matters: Four plates is a street-sale quantity worth a few hundred dollars. How long she is held before a charge is the issue to watch.
