State Police searched a private house and greenhouse in Jersika parish, Līvāni municipality, on 2 October 2026, acting on operational information, according to a State Police release published by LV portals. Officers found dozens of cannabis plants, growing, potted and drying, along with cartridges, lamps, irrigation and ventilation equipment.

A man born in 1980 was detained on suspicion. A criminal case was opened for suspected illegal production or storage of narcotics. The investigation is ongoing, and police note nobody is presumed guilty until proven so. The man is not named.

Why it matters: The case concerns a home grow, not trafficking. The police statement itself says no one is presumed guilty until proven so.
