Israeli Man, 57, Indicted Over Alleged 423 kg Cannabis Grow in a Rented Villa

His lawyer says he accepts responsibility and has no prior record.

A 57-year-old man from Yavne was indicted over an alleged cannabis-growing operation in a rented villa in Migdal. About 423 kg of cannabis was reportedly found, along with cash, documents and grow equipment. He is also accused of bypassing the electricity meter and taking power worth about NIS 159,000.

The report names him as David Khondiashvili, as printed in the source. He remains in custody, and a judge ordered a detention assessment report. His lawyer says he accepts responsibility, has no prior record and has a medical condition, and that a vacation-cabin business failed during wartime before he turned to the cannabis lab.

Why it matters: The man is described as having no prior record, and the lawyer attributes the crime to a failed business. Those are claims by the defence, not findings.
