In October 2024, a man arriving at Helsinki Airport from Bangkok drew Customs attention. His suitcase held 13 kg of cannabis. Customs followed him to Espoo, where he met another man, and both were detained.
A warehouse search in Espoo turned up about 60 kg of cannabis in biscuit boxes, with signs of another 30 kg. Customs suspects the group brought in nearly 100 kg and sold some in southern Finland. Three people were arrested on suspicion of serious drug offences, and none of them live in Finland.
The investigation is complete, and the file has gone to the prosecutor to decide on charges. No one is named.
Why it matters: The investigation began with one suitcase at the airport and grew into a three-person case, but the prosecutor had not yet decided on charges when this was reported.
