Police in Praia raided a property during the year-end security operation and arrested four Cape Verdean suspects, three women and one man aged 22 to 60, according to a LUSA report carried by RTP Africa. They seized about 1.35 kg of cannabis, 271 g of hashish, 9 g of cocaine and 29,245 escudos in cash.

The suspects were arrested in the act and charged with high-risk drug trafficking and money laundering as co-perpetrators. One woman was placed in preventive detention and two others must report to authorities weekly. The outcome for the fourth is not stated.

Why it matters: The quantities are modest and the charges are the heaviest category. Preventive detention before trial is the main hardship reported.
