Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing found 47.5 kg of marijuana in a car with German plates travelling from Germany towards Turkey. The drugs were in 38 foil-wrapped packages in a compartment under the boot lining. A field test pointed to marijuana, and the report puts its value at about 388,800 euros.

A German driver and a German passenger were in the car. A pre-trial investigation was opened under the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office. The report says the US Drug Enforcement Administration was involved in the operation.

The report does not say whether the two were arrested or charged, and it does not name them.

Why it matters: The report gives no arrest, charge or court step for either man, so their legal position is unclear.
