Texas Man Fined in Belize After About a Quarter Pound of Cannabis Found in His Suitcase

He pleaded guilty the next day without a lawyer, paid the fine and was released.

By Donte West · Oct 15, 2026

A 25-year-old American entertainer from Texas arrived at Philip Goldson International Airport on a flight from Atlanta. Customs officers searching his suitcase found three vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis, a little over a quarter pound.

The report names him as Elijah Quartey Mack, as printed in the source. He appeared before a senior magistrate the next day without a lawyer, pleaded guilty and apologised. He was fined 2,700 (the currency is not stated on the page; Belize dollars are assumed) rather than jailed, paid the fine and was released the same day.

The report notes that Texas has not legalised recreational cannabis.

Why it matters: He went from airport search to a guilty plea, a fine and release within about a day, and he had no lawyer in the courtroom.
