Two men were detained in the Meghri community in southern Armenia after their Mercedes-Benz SUV was stopped while heading toward Yerevan, according to Armenpress. Officers reported seizing 69.3 kg of marijuana from the vehicle.

Both men are Armenian citizens. The report says an unidentified Iranian citizen allegedly pointed them to where the drugs were hidden. The Syunik Regional Investigative Department opened a criminal case under several drug trafficking and smuggling provisions, and a court ordered both suspects held in pretrial custody. The report prints only initials, so they are not named here.

Why it matters: This is a trafficking-scale seizure, not personal possession. The report describes custody before trial for both men.
